Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is an adjunctive functional diagnostic technique developed by Dr. George Goodheart in 1964 in the United States; today practitioners worldwide are using this technique. The basis of AK is the muscle test. The muscle test is used to assess how various forms of stress affect the nervous system at a specific point and time resulting in a change in the strength of the muscle.

So why do muscles change strength after certain stresses have been placed on the nervous system without frank pathology of the muscle, neuro-myo junction, nerve, nerve root or central nervous system?

The answer lies in that AK assesses for functional imbalances and not pathology.

In the continuum between health and death there are various stages as illustrated bellow.

100% Health » Functional Imbalances » Disease

The best place for doctors to make an impact on health and prevent disease is at the functional state.

The types of treatment offered by AK practitioners depend on what is causing the functional imbalance and how to restore, replenish and maintain balance.
